SML Socketless Soil & Waste
The Harmer SML lightweight cast iron pipework system is dry-jointed, Agrément certified, and has a proven track record for above-ground drainage. With its comprehensive range of fittings and accessories, SML is
the ideal soil and waste system which can also be used for rainwater installations.
Harmer SML pipes are available in standard 3m lengths, in diameters of 50mm to 400mm, providing everything for high performance, lightweight cast iron soil and waste systems. Pipes have an exterior primer coating, minimum thickness 40 µm. The interior of pipes has an epoxy coating with a minimum thickness of 120 µm.
What is the Harmer SML Range?
The SML range is an dry jointed cast iron soil and waste system for use above and below ground, it comes complete with a comprehensive suite of mechanical jointed fittings and assessories.
What type of building will I need to use Hamer Cast Iron SML Pipework?
After the recent change in legislation due to the Grenfell tragedy all soil and waste pipes must be A1 or A2 fire rated compliant in all buildings above 11m. Therefore high rise flats and buildings. It is also used ion commerical projects like schools, university's and for underslung in car parks.
What are the advantages of using a SML cast iron system over plastic?
Advantages are - Non combustable, high tensile strength, excellent acoustic properties, longevity, chemically resistant.
What British standard does the Harmer SML system comply too?
SML both above and below ground complies to BS EN877. Acoustically it is tested in accordance with BS EN 14366.
What pipe sizes are available?
All standard pipes are 3m long and range in diameter from 50mm - 400mm
Is SML suitable for external use?
Although you can use this externally, the main purpose of the system is for internal application. For external use a separate paint coating will be required.
What bar pressure will the standard Harmer SML coupler take?
The standard bar pressure the coupler will take is 0.5 PSI
Which coupler shall I use?
The red ductile iron coupler has fixing bolts either side and can be dismantled into two pieces to help with install, when tightening it must be equal torque either side, the stainless steel duo couplers are pushed onto the pie and both fixing bolts are next to each other making the install quicker.
Can the Harmer Cast Iron SML system be painted?
Yes you can paint the system if you wish using a specialist metallic paint. AWMS will only supply on the red for above ground and brown for below.
What is the maintenance required for the system?
On all pipelines and connections a visual inspection of all accessible parts for tigtness and outside corrosion should be done once a year.
Are Harmer SML products recyclable?
Yes Cast Iron is 100% recyclable.
